    Hello all!

Hope everyone is doing well in this four-seasons-in-four-days weather! I've just come through a bout of sinusitis that knocked me out for a week! But, back at it again and have some updating for you.

I chatted with Michealangelo a bit back and we wanted to send a recap of our last meeting and giving you a couple more tidbits. At the meeting, several of our members were out sick and out of town so we didn't have a quorum. However, we did have a visitor: Melissa Strange, candidate for Congress, KY-4l who is vying for Thomas Massie's position. At the bottom of this email is a list of Dems running on May 19.

A couple of important issues to discuss are our Party in the County and the upcoming No Kings Protest on March 28 (https://www.nokings.org/). There are events being held in Florence, Lexington, Cincinnati, etc. However, we have toyed with the idea of having one here in Grant County.

    • Our next meeting is coming up on Tuesday, October 24 at 7 at the Senior Center. We encourage EVERYONE to attend. We need to discuss the election, the general election including potential non-partisan and write-in candidates for positions. We also need to look to the future for our Party and how to engage more people young and old alike.
    • No Kings Protest - we need to decide if we want to attend a No Kings protest as a group or individuals; attend outside locations or organize our own here in the County. (FYI, we have four overpasses in the County that are potential locations for smaller protests.)

Anyone with suggestions or ideas, do reply to this email or come to the meeting so we can get planning. We are working on getting organized and up-to-date on events and groups to support Dem values.

Hope to see everyone at the meeting and looking forward to hearing your ideas!

    Candidates on the Ballot 5/19:
KY-41st District Representative (Thomas Massie Current):

    • Melissa Strange: https://strangeforky.com/.
    • Jesse Brewer (we met a while back). His website is: https://www.votejessebrewer.org/.

KY-4th District Senator [(Mitch McConnel Current (from an article in LinkKY)]:

    • Amy McGrath, a retired Marine aviator who ran against McConnell in 2020. She is a war veteran who reportedly flew in 89 combat missions against al-Qaeda and the Taliban during her 20-year Marine career. (https://amymcgrath.com/)
    • Logan Forsythe, a 36-year-old personal injury lawyer based in Lexington, and former U.S. Secret Service agent. He served as a special agent for three different American presidents across political party lines, alongside a team he says had to put politics to the side. (https://loganforsythe.com/)
    • Pamela Stevenson, a Kentucky lawmaker, is a former military judge advocate general. She ran for state attorney general in 2023 but lost by a wide margin to Republican Russell Coleman. (https://www.stevensonforsenate.com/)
