Letter from the Chair – 09/27/2024

Hello Fellow Dems!

Well, it’s getting to Crunch Time in the 2024 election cycle!  The next five weeks will be busy, busy, busy and we need all hands on deck!

There’s a bit to cover for this edition of Notes from the Chair including a Meet ‘n Greet for Kiana Fields, most excellent Dem Candidate to replace Daymon Thayer in the 17th Senatorial District, distributions for signs and information around the county, as well as signing up for poll working.

– Poll Working.  On Thursday, Friday and Saturday before Election Day there will be early voting at the Library and then all day Election Day at five locations.  They need about 40 Dems to have enough to fill slots and have some alternates.  Anyone interested can sign up by contacting Tabatha Clemons (Tabatha.Clemons@ky.gov or call  859-824-3321)

Distributions.  We want to be sure to distribute signs and literature to the public.  We did this in Williamstown at Marigold Day.  We had planned to do it at Crittenden on 8/28, but with the weather, we are going to need to postpone it and add it at the schedule.

Meet around 1:30 p.m. at each location and man booth for a couple three hours.  We will put up events on Facebook.  Tentative schedule:

  • 10/5:  Dry Ridge, Bill Adkins’ office on US 25 (1505 N Main, Williamstown)
  • 10/12:  Corinth, at the little island at the 330/25/Main Street intersection
  • 10/19 – Jonesville, at the Corner Store
  • 10/26 – Crittenden, Dalton Mall next to City Building

Meet ‘n Greet/fundraiser for Kiana Fields.  October 3rd @ 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Williamstown Senior Center, 400 North Main Street.  The main e will be selling Harris/Walz signs to fundraise for GCD.  Senator Reginald Thomas will be there and Kiana will be bringing some of her folks.  Everyone please try to attend AND spread the word!   We plan to have an old fashioned pot luck that we will be providing.  Here is what we have so far.  If you want to bring something, we are looking at at least 30 to 40 people to attend.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. at the Williamstown Senior Center.  Come early for Snack ‘n Chat.  Everyone is welcome and be sure to bring ideas to the meeting!

Everyone have a great weekend, try to stay safe and dry while Helene blasts her way across the Eastern US.
