Hello Fellow Dems!
Well, another election has come and gone. As you probably know, Andy Beshear will be our governor for the next four years! Yeah! However, our down ballot candidates were all defeated though not was soundly as the Republicans might like. Here in Grant County, Andy did lose, but with 65% for Cameron and 37% for Andy, we actually made progress. In the past, it has been 75% to 25% and even 80% to 20% the loss rate.
With the holidays around the corner, we are continuing our forward momentum by planning for the Country Christmas Parade. We are serious about our float this year! Our float committee is working hard to come up with the best float in the county! We will need volunteers to ride and/or walk with the float as well as candy to toss. We may be asking for solar lights, if you have them and maybe a few things they’ve not thought of yet.
We will have a Christmas Party this year, so be thinking of what you’d like to do–have a party at someone’s house or meet at a local restaurant or something else. We’ll decide at our November meeting on 11/28.
Speaking of the future, we are looking for candidates for all positions from boards to commissions to elected positions on all local state and, yes, even federal. Over the next several months, we will be working to inform our Grant County Democrats of positions that are open, what they do and how they can qualify as well as run a campaign. Too, we will be having training on canvassing, lit drops, contacting constituents and engaging negativity. Additionally, everyone is encouraged to be attending local meetings not only governmental, but of boards and commissions. We will have a list of all the public boards and commissions on the webpage in the near future along with when and where are meetings as well as what they do.
Hope to see everyone at the meeting on 11/28–we’ll have snacks and chat around 6:30 and the meeting at 7.
